The authors of this infographic (Penn State University) try to determine the best way to incorporate values such as diversity, equality, and inclusion in the context of teaching and learning. To achieve it, they created a list of recommendations in order to offer faculty and instructional designs a new perspective on students’ needs, and strategies to create a caring learning environment. They divided their design into 3 different areas:

1- Setting expectations on the first day: in order to connect with students they propose different techniques, such as promoting confidence on students, reminding them that they can achieve great deals if they work hard; using double-checked names, like their nicknames; considering pronouns or having in account students opinions.

2- Communicate and collaborate: Including revisions of cultural references and using examples about them, so that students from different areas can understand them it’s an important point. Also, avoiding unwanted focus on minority students, planning group activities, and ensuring equal access for all the class are ways to improve communication and collaboration between teachers and students.

3- Improving the course structure: avoiding stereotypes, providing role models, triangulating the knowledge, and pursuing continuous improvement (the key step) teacher can achieve differents improvements on the course.
